Lab 8:55,comma9:41. As i said we were very poor. Watford didn't tear us a new one but I felt they would beat us . We are very average .do you realise that matey ?

sir alf, i totally agree with you. as an old bugger myself and with 62 yrs a hammer under my belt and like you i reckon i've seen it all with WHU, i'm not getting ahead of myself either. wait and see is the watchword here.
but i have to say that after my rant on who recently it does my old heart good to see a massive increase in the teams workrate and effort and we are beginning to look like a proper team, working together for each other.

i've said it countless times before and i'll say it again,

IN EL PELL WE TRUST. COYI !!!.

Really good summary and agree we are getting way ahead of ourselves, although 4 wins on the bounce is a great achievement these days.

Whilst it's great to be moving away from the bottom, the test against Watford will be a good measure for us as the team are gelling, goals are coming from all round, but we still look vulnerable to conceding a goal or two.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Our run of 4 wins has been very enjoyable to watch but I do think we ( the press, some fans, players and now I read Gold talking about top 6 or 7) getting a bit ahead of themselves.

Its the 60 years of watching West Ham and 50 odd years of disappointment that will not allow me to believe we are in a new "era" just yet. That said, even when we were losing games you could see the tactics and style Pellegrini was trying to instill.

I think its next season and further investment in quality players / more youngsters coming through before we can assume we have reached the level of Europa league contenders.

For now I am happy that it looks like we will avoid any flirtation / involvement with relegation. Thats an achievement in itself.

The game on Saturday we were second best in midfield first half and would have been punished against better quality teams so still more strengthening needed in that area as well as full back positions. What I am encouraged by is the ability of midfielders and other players to get on the score sheet. Perhaps there was a tendency to play too much through Arnautovic?

Watford is going to be an interesting test. They are a decent side and better than than last 4 we have played thats for sure.

I like a left back that can attack, too much worry about defending.
Dicksie as you are such a knowledge, perhaps you should turn your amazing analysis to the errors made against Man City by the rest of the defense, or was that all perfect? Childishly simple blaming one defender. Makes it all the funner that you present yourself as the judge on who knows about football.

My thoughts exactly Reg.

So Watford, five games four points, are confident of beating us, five games twelve points.

Sounds about wrong.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
So are watford gonna rip us a new one ? No, but I bet they are confident of 3 points . I said it on this thread earlier, I thought we were poor against Fulham.

Good to see Antonio getting back to something like the form he showed in his first season

We are weak at LB...whichever one plays...

Won't be easy vs Watford...

They will target our left side...

Pellegrini knows this... and hopefully will sort it...

Creswell becomes a much better defender the more he is out. He hits the ball much better than Masuaku but remember he is a fair bit slower.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Oh don't get me wrong he is absolute WORLD CLASS at that stopping the ball... rolling it back... and then passing it 5 yards.... WORLD CLASS at that I'll give you that... at bog standard defensive duties.... not quite so much

I saw Masuaku fuck-up with my very own eyes, thank you very much, Comma.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Russ... you watch Rice... it's like playing with 2 left backs half the time the amount of covering he does for the bloke...

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
dixie, don’t listen to pundits, ever. The reason is they tend to follow the Hansen doctrine whereby all goals are scored due to a defensive mistake of some kind. Thus the impression is given that but for Masuaku we would have held our own against Man City.

dicksie3 5:56 Mon Dec 17
Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Russ, he was at fault for at least 3 of Man City's goals the other week for a start.

He's a shocking full-back. Again, anyone who rates him should start following a different sport.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
If we were going to eventually lose I had it down as Fulham away as I thought they would get the bounce from new manager.

But they were shite. We weren't great but again offensively we had too much.

God only knows what we could achieve with a fully fit squad. Bloody hell.

I love all this "Masuaku is an accident waiting to happen" when I was hearing it months ago and still waiting for the accident.

Northern Sold 5:18 Mon Dec 17
Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
No problems with Cresswell... he's a solid... relatively dependable player who at least has a defensive bone in his body... like I have said Arthur in a 3 or 5 yeah no problems but he is not and never will be a full back...

Gavros 5:05 Mon Dec 17
Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Dicksie-Son is correct. We've only got one quality fullback and he's off for his last payday in the sun at the end of the season. We need quality on both sides in this area. This is the most glaring need right now, along with CM where we're paying some geezer 100k a week to not play.
